Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 September 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how squibjoy.com ("Squibjoy", "this site", "we", "our") handles information. Squibjoy is a small, editorial website reviewing free mobile games, operated by an individual, Callum Mercer, of 8 Rankins Ln, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia. Squibjoy has no user accounts, no forms, and no product for sale — this policy is shorter than most because the site genuinely does very little with information about its visitors.
The operator, and why the Privacy Act may not strictly apply
Squibjoy is operated by Callum Mercer as an individual, not a company, and its annual turnover falls well below the AUD 3 million threshold that generally brings a business within the scope of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Under section 6D of that Act, an operator of this size is ordinarily treated as a "small business operator" and is not bound by the Act's requirements, unless a specific exception applies (for example, if it traded in personal information, which this site does not).
Squibjoy does not rely on that exemption to avoid transparency. Instead, Callum voluntarily applies the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in Schedule 1 to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as a matter of good practice, and this policy is written to that standard.
Information this site does not collect
Squibjoy has no sign-up, no login, no comment system, no newsletter, no search box, and no contact form. Nothing you type is sent to this site — the only way to reach the operator is by email, using the address in the contact section below, which goes directly to your own email provider rather than to any system on this site.
This site does not use advertising cookies, does not run its own analytics scripts, and does not sell, rent or trade any information to third parties, because it doesn't collect anything worth trading.
Information collected automatically
Like almost any website, Squibjoy is served through a content delivery network, Cloudflare, Inc. ("Cloudflare"), which is the only third party involved in operating this site. In the ordinary course of serving pages, Cloudflare's infrastructure automatically processes connection-level information for every visitor, which may include: IP address, approximate location derived from that IP address, browser and device type, referring page, the pages requested, the date and time of the request, and aggregate performance metrics such as Core Web Vitals.
This information is used only to deliver pages, keep the site secure against abuse, and understand aggregate, non-identifying performance trends (for example, whether pages are loading quickly). It is not used to build a profile of any individual visitor, and Squibjoy itself does not receive or store this information directly — it exists in Cloudflare's infrastructure under Cloudflare's own privacy practices.
Cross-border disclosure
Because Cloudflare operates a global network, the connection-level information described above may be processed on infrastructure located outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where Cloudflare operates. This is disclosed here in line with Australian Privacy Principle 8 (cross-border disclosure of personal information). Cloudflare's own privacy and security practices govern that processing; details are published at cloudflare.com.
Cookies and local storage
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. It uses exactly one piece of local browser storage: a single key that remembers whether you accepted or dismissed the information banner shown on your first visit, stored using your browser's localStorage. This value stays on your device, is never transmitted to this site or to Cloudflare, and is not personal information. See the Cookie Notice for full details, including the exact key name and its purpose.
How this information is used
The automatically collected connection-level information described above is used solely to: operate and secure the site against malicious traffic, diagnose technical problems, and understand aggregate visitor trends (for example, which pages are popular, or whether load times need attention). It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond running this website.
Retention
Squibjoy does not independently store visitor logs. Connection-level data handled by Cloudflare is retained under Cloudflare's own data retention practices, which are shorter-term and oriented toward security and performance rather than long-term storage. If you email the operator directly, that message is retained in the operator's own email account for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond to and resolve your query.
Security
All pages on this site are served over HTTPS. Because Squibjoy collects no account data, payment data or form submissions, the practical security surface of this site is small; the main safeguard is Cloudflare's network-level protection between visitors and the site's hosting.
Access, correction and complaints
Under Australian Privacy Principles 12 and 13, individuals generally have the right to request access to, and correction of, personal information held about them. Because Squibjoy does not hold accounts or personal profiles, there is typically nothing of that kind to access or correct beyond the content of any email you have sent to the operator, which you may request be corrected or deleted at any time by emailing the address below.
If you are not satisfied with how a privacy concern has been handled, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001, Australia — oaic.gov.au.
Children's privacy
Squibjoy is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, through the site itself. The only information handled is the automatic, non-identifying connection-level data described above, which applies equally regardless of a visitor's age.
Third parties named in this policy
Cloudflare, Inc. is the only third-party service provider involved in operating this site, acting as a content delivery network and security layer. No advertising network, analytics vendor, or payment processor is used on Squibjoy.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the site or to Australian privacy law. The date below reflects the version currently in effect; material changes will be reflected by updating that date.
